Blue Bird.
So guess what? If you have encountered me in any way in the last week you would have learned that...
I GOT A NEW CAR. CAPS LOCK APPROPRIATE.
As I've written about before, I needed to get a car. I was driving a 1994 Dodge Caravan that went with me to the dealership with 261,000+ miles on it. It had lived many years and carried me around for 5 of them. I'm very grateful ;for that car, but I was ready for change and eager to find something fuel efficient.
After many months of research on used cars that fit what I needed (Fuel efficient, affordable, last beyond the time I paid off the loan) I settled on the Kia Rio. I had been originally been looking at only hatchback versions, but they were pretty much non-existent as a used car. The brand-new version isn't expensive, but it was just a bit out of reach on what I could afford for a car payment. So, instead, I ended up finding the 2010 sedan version with only 22,000 miles at a good price. I was also able to get a percentage rate that was decent with my almost non-existent/low credit score.
I love the color, it is so cute reminds me of a cheerful little blue bird. My first car was a 94 Chevy Cavalier that I got when I was 17 that was teal, so apparently along with 2 black cats I also end up owning 2 cars in shades of blue.
I am not a haggler; I hate it at garage sales, flea markets and did not love doing it at the car dealership I went to before Carmax. I have that "sweet/naive" look about me and constantly get the run around. I spent 5 hours and took a half day at work to basically end up annoyed, insulted and car-less. After many recommendations of going to Carmax I had a great experience. [My opinions, not sponsored or any of that]
Since I drove a mini-van for many years, it is a fun feeling having a little car to drive around. It is 4 doors and has back seats because I do plan to have kids in the near future, but it is definitely on the small side. Fine by me, I drive 60 miles a day round-trip for work. I need good gas mileage.
I got it Tuesday night, and am enjoying the new-car-excitement. It also has Sirius radio for 3 months, and I've been digging The Coffehouse station.

It's adorable! Congrats!
Congratulations! I'm one of those people who can't even think of trading a car until it passes the 200,000 mark. HATE car payments and, with regular servicing, they'll last forever. It's adorable and folks I know love the KIA. Enjoy, and come visit when you can.
